A Short course to knowing yourself.

Self discovery is key in the foundation of every man’s success. It should be a project for everyone. Start immediately because the early the better. What does it mean to discover your self?

  1. It means to know what you have
  2. It means to know who you are
  3. It means to know your strengths
  4. It means to know your weaknesses
  5. It means to know your gifting and talents

If you don’t know yourself, you cannot identify what you have being made to do on earth. 2 Timo 2:15 says we should study to show ourselves approved
There are three you must study
1. Study God
2. Study yourself
3. Study your assignment

There are several ways you can discover yourself which are;
1. Ask questions about yourself
2. Retreat
3. Take up difficult tasks
4. Be committed to your present assignment
5. Love and Hate

We will deal with each of these now

Asking questions are important in finding answers.
If you don't ask question, you won't get answers. Answers responds to questions. You need to keep asking questions until you get answers. If you get answers, don't stop asking. Only great men ask questions and keep asking until they see answers. Generally, if you want to know, you must ask. If you want to enter a house, you must knock. If you want to find, you must seek. Have you being persistent to get answers or you just ask once and relax? You are a package of words. God created you with words. You must speak up to know you. What do you want to know about yourself?

There are lots of questions to ask
1. Whose tears makes me feel pain?
2. Who do I long to protect?
3. What are my strong points?
4. Whose success am I obsessed with?
5. What is success to me?
6. What gives me ultimate joy in life?
7. What is my greatest fear?
8. What gives me joy?
9. What is my God given assignment?
10. What would make me fulfilled in life?

2. Retreat
Retreat is a periodical check on yourself in a quiet place for days. A moment to gain more insight into God, yourself and your assignment. It is needful for more understanding about what God wants and a place to receive strength. Strength is important which comes with wisdom and knowledge about God, yourself and your assignment. Some persons do it once a month while some do occasionally.

3. Take up difficult tasks
You cannot see who you are until you go beyond your current capacity. To be in your comfort zone is to kill yourself and keep burying the things God has deposited in you. Go for the challenges and face them head on. The difficult tasks gives you insight into who you are.
2 Pet 5:10 says after you have suffer a while, you will be matured. You cannot become a man with matching great rocks.

4. Be committed to your present task as if it is your destiny. Commit your life to the success of that task. Our level of faithfulness to a task can give you insight into our strength and the blessedness of God's revelation about us. The disciples Jesus picked were busy fishing and committed to their task, and God shown them who they were supposed to be in life. Same scenario goes to David, Paul, Moses etc. What are you doing now? Academics, church, etc. Get Committed and do it as though it is your destiny to do so.

5. Love and Hate
Your emotions were created for a reason to identify passion and the inherent force you carried coming to this world. People feel bad about seeing children suffer but millions of people don't have such. Check your feelings, check what you love and Hate, it is a pointer to who you are.
